Her husband must be out at sea. Virginie Demont-Breton (1859-1935) comesfrom a family of French painters and began her career in her late teens. In her early career she was known for her historical works, then after moving to the seaside with her husband,Adrien Demont (also a painter), she began painting fishermen and their family life.
