Painted in the later 15th century, Botticelli used large amounts of gold to adorn the picture, making it one of his costliest paintings! The grandness of this reaffirms the grandeur of Mary as she is being crowned by Angels with a crown of numerous stars. This particular picture zooms in on Mary’s disposition as she is urged to write the Magnificat, her song of praise to God in Luke 1:46-55, by the Christ Child.
